The call happened just two days before Modi was scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China.
Modi posted on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), saying, “I thank President Zelenskyy for his phone call today. We discussed the ongoing conflict, the humanitarian situation, and efforts to bring back peace and stability. India offers its full support for all these efforts.”
According to an official Indian statement, Modi confirmed India’s “steadfast and consistent position” to peacefully resolve the Ukraine conflict and support efforts to restore peace as soon as possible. The statement added that Modi also reiterated India’s commitment to provide all possible assistance.
The two leaders also reviewed the progress of the India-Ukraine partnership and talked about ways to improve cooperation in other areas they both find important.
