MUMBAI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended a warm welcome to French President Emmanuel Macron as he arrived in India on Tuesday for his fourth official visit. PM Modi expressed confidence that this trip would elevate the India-France strategic partnership to new heights and strengthen cooperation across various sectors. President Macron, accompanied by First Lady Brigitte Macron, was received at the Mumbai airport by Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The visit, scheduled through February 19, focuses significantly on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. The two leaders will hold bilateral talks at Lok Bhavan in Mumbai to review strategic progress and discuss regional issues, including cooperation in the Indo-Pacific. A key highlight of the visit is the joint inauguration of the ‘India-France Year of Innovation 2026’, aimed at boosting research and startup collaborations. Following their Mumbai engagements, PM Modi and President Macron will travel to New Delhi to attend the ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’ at Bharat Mandapam.
