Kerala HC Reserves Verdict on Appeal Against ‘The Kerala Story 2’ Release Stay.

KOCHI: A division bench of the Kerala High Court on Thursday reserved its verdict on an appeal challenging the 15-day stay on the release of the film ‘The Kerala Story 2-Goes Beyond’. The bench, comprising Justices Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and P. V. Balakrishnan, reached this decision following a nearly two-hour-long late-evening hearing.

During the proceedings, the bench observed that the pleas opposing the film’s certification appeared to be in the nature of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL). The court questioned the procedural validity of a single judge hearing such a matter. Despite the producer’s request for an immediate interim order to lift the stay, the division bench declined to pass any such order at the conclusion of the hearing.

The controversy began earlier on Wednesday when a single judge put the film’s release on hold after petitioners alleged that the content could incite communal disharmony. The film industry and legal circles are now closely watching for the final verdict. (PTI)
