The CPM has expelled senior leader and former Shoranur MLA PK Sasi from its primary membership shortly after he led a convention of rebel party leaders in Palakkad. Sasi, who recently stepped down as the chairman of the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC), used the platform to launch a scathing attack on the party’s district leadership. During the meeting held at Chandranagar on Thursday, Sasi alleged that Palakkad District Secretary EN Suresh Babu has been providing support to the spirit mafia.
In response to the allegations, EN Suresh Babu challenged Sasi to provide evidence for his claims. Speaking to the media, the district secretary stated that he would retire from public life if the allegations were proven true and further called for an investigation into Sasi’s personal assets. The expulsion marks a significant crack in the party’s regional unit following the participation of several rebel leaders in the convention. (TNIE)
