Emirates Airlines has announced the temporary suspension of all its flights to and from Dubai following reports of a drone incident in the region. The airline issued an urgent advisory asking passengers not to travel to the airport until further notice as safety measures are being prioritized. In a statement shared on X, Emirates confirmed that the decision follows an official report of a “drone incident” by the Dubai Media Office earlier today. The airline stated that it is monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates as they become available, while thanking its customers for their patience during this disruption.
An Emirates flight bound for Dubai was forced to return to Cochin International Airport on Monday morning following the unexpected shutdown of Dubai International Airport due to security concerns in West Asia. The flight, EK533, which departed from Kochi at 4:30 am, turned back mid-air after Dubai authorities announced a suspension of operations. The aircraft, carrying approximately 350 passengers, landed safely back in Kochi at 8:30 am. Although passengers were initially asked to remain on board while the situation was being monitored, the airline later decided to disembark everyone as the closure persisted.
CIAL officials stated that they are currently awaiting further updates from the airline regarding flight rescheduling or alternative travel arrangements for the stranded passengers. (Iranintl & TNIE)
