Two Youths Drown While Bathing in Keralam-Kallada Dam Catchment Area.

Kollam: In two separate tragic incidents, two young men drowned while bathing in the catchment area of the Kallada Parappar Dam.

The deceased have been identified as P. Thavamuni (36), a track maintenance worker with the Madurai Division of Tamil Nadu Railways, and Arshid (20), a resident of Pangode. Thavamuni was part of a 26-member Railway Scouts and Guides team attending a camp at Thenmala Eco-Tourism.

While a group of four went for a swim near Kalankunnu, three managed to swim back to safety, but Thavamuni was pulled into the deep waters. His body was later recovered by forest officials. In the second incident, Arshid was swept away by strong currents while bathing with three friends at Neduvannurkadavu in Kulathupuzha. Although his friends managed to escape, Arshid unfortunately lost his life. The Kulathupuzha police have registered a case regarding the incident.
