KSU, Youth Congress Workers Attacked in Idukki; Police Register Case Against DYFI-SFI Activists.

A complaint has been registered in Nedumkandam, Idukki, after a group of KSU and Youth Congress workers were allegedly attacked by DYFI and SFI activists. Three opposition youth wing leaders sustained injuries in the clash. The injured have been identified as Youth Congress Mandalam Vice President Bibin Ammancheri, KSU District Secretary Alan Saji, and KSU Mandalam office-bearer Alant Jose. Among them, Alant Jose, who sustained serious head injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

According to local sources, the provocation for the clash dates back to the recent local body elections. A dispute had broken out between the two groups over a comment posted on a Facebook message, which eventually escalated into physical violence on the streets. Following a formal complaint lodged by the injured political workers, the Nedumkandam police have registered a case and initiated a detailed probe into the incident.

Meanwhile, DYFI District Secretary Ramesh Krishnan has firmly denied the allegations, stating that their organization has no connection with the attack on the Congress workers. The police have increased petrol and vigilance in the area to prevent further political friction between the rival groups. (With input from MN)
