KOCHI: A 39-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly trespassing into a working women’s hostel in Palarivattom and attempting to sexually assault a resident while she was asleep. The accused has been identified as Robin Das, a native of Kattoor in Alappuzha, who had been living in a rented house at Kuzhivélipady in Aluva. The shocking incident took place in the early hours of May 12.
According to the police, the accused stealthily broke into a room at a ladies’ hostel situated near the Palarivattom Metro Station at around 4:00 AM on May 12. He then groped and attempted to sexually assault the young woman who was fast asleep in her room. However, the woman woke up and immediately raised an alarm, forcing the accused to flee from the spot to evade capture.
Following a formal complaint lodged by the victim, the Palarivattom police registered a case and initiated a detailed probe. Investigators scanned numerous CCTV visuals from the locality and successfully identified the culprit, leading to his arrest. The accused was subsequently produced before the local court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
