DEHRADUN: In a tragic and alarming incident in the Dehradun district of Uttarakhand, a massive violent clash erupted between two communities over the sharing of drinking water, leaving one person dead and three others critically injured. The unfortunate incident took place at a locality called Bairagiwala, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Sahaspur police station.
The violent confrontation reportedly broke out on Saturday evening following a heated argument over water collection. Tensions flared rapidly as a group of people armed with sharp-edged and lethal weapons launched a brutal attack on members of the other faction, according to Dehradun Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Pankaj Gairola.
All four individuals who sustained severe injuries during the assault were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, one of the victims succumbed to his injuries while undergoing emergency medical treatment. The news of the death further heightened communal tensions in the locality.
To prevent any retaliatory violence and to maintain strict law and order, a heavy contingent of police personnel has been deployed throughout the sensitive area. The Additional SP added that specialized police teams have launched a widespread manhunt to track down and arrest the accused individuals who fled the spot after the crime.
