DOHA: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) of Qatar has announced that expatriates must leave the country within 14 days once their Residency Permit (RP) is officially cancelled. The authorities clarified this directive during a specialized “Safe Travels” webinar organized by the Ministry’s Public Relations Department. The online session elaborately detailed the essential legal protocols, exit procedures, and travel guidelines that residents need to comply with before flying out of Qatar.
Previously, expatriates whose residency permits were revoked were granted a standard 30-day grace period to wind up their affairs and exit the country. However, this transition window has now been officially reduced to just two weeks (14 days), as confirmed by Captain Ali Ahmed Ali Al Kuwari from the Airport Passport Department of the Ministry of Interior during the webinar briefings.
The security and immigration authorities further highlighted that strict punitive financial measures would be enforced against individuals failing to comply with the new timeline. Expatriates who overstay the mandatory two-week grace period will be liable to pay an accumulated fine of QR 10 per day for every single day they illegally remain in the country after the deadline.
