Student’s Hand Fractured in Assault: School Teacher Suspended and Arrested in Malappuram.

MALAPPURAM: A school teacher has been suspended following an incident in which a 10-year-old female student sustained a fractured hand due to severe corporal punishment at Kallingal in Kalpakanchery, Malappuram. The suspended teacher has been identified as Balraj, who works at MSM Higher Secondary School, Kallingal. The action was taken based on a formal complaint lodged by the victim’s parents.

The incident occurred on Friday when the 10-year-old girl, a native of Kallingal, was assaulted by the teacher. The child had returned to school after taking three days of leave due to fever. While she was writing in her notebook, the teacher struck her on the right hand with a cane. The impact of the cane blow resulted in a bone fracture in her hand. Following the assault, her parents immediately lodged complaints with both the local police and the school management.

Based on the complaint, the police registered a case, arrested the teacher, and produced him before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody. He is currently lodged in Tavanur jail. Simultaneously, the school management issued orders suspending the teacher from service. Meanwhile, other students have also brought forward similar allegations of corporal punishment against him.
