Kannur: The Kudumbashree ‘Snehitha Gender Help Desk’ in Kannur has launched the ‘Snehitha Pocket Card’ project to provide safe and timely assistance to students during emergencies. The primary objective of the initiative is to ensure student safety in schools and during travel, while creating awareness about available support systems.
The pocket card comprehensively includes the services of the Snehitha Gender Help Desk, key helpline numbers related to women and child safety, and other emergency contact numbers.
The pocket card is designed in a way that allows children to easily keep essential information with them at all times, enabling them to seek help without fear in any emergency situation.
In the first phase of the project, cards are being distributed to Gender Club members and Student Police Cadet students in schools under the Azhikode Grama Panchayat Kudumbashree Model Gender Resource Centre. Subsequently, the scheme will be expanded to all schools across the district. This initiative by the Kannur District Administration and Kudumbashree sets an exemplary model in fostering a sense of security and gender equality awareness among students.
