THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Sabarimala Karma Samiti has expressed strong protest over alleged derogatory comments made by Dalit activist Sunny M. Kapikad against the eternal celibacy (Naishtika Brahmacharya) concept of Lord Ayyappa and Malikappurathamma. In an official statement, Sabarimala Karma Samiti General Convener S.J.R. Kumar demanded that the Kerala Government and the Travancore Devaswom Board intervene urgently in this matter.
The Samiti noted that circulating video clips show Kapikad mocking the sacred celibacy of Lord Ayyappa, which is observed with deep devotion by millions of believers, while making highly offensive characterizations of the deity in connection with women. The statement emphasized that comparing a divine concept to vile human behavior goes far beyond legitimate criticism of a religious belief and deeply hurts the religious sentiments of millions of devotees.
