Thiruvananthapuram: The Health Department has taken urgent measures to resolve the acute medicine crisis in government hospitals across the state. It has been decided to form special monitoring committees in all districts to ensure the availability of essential medicines in hospitals. This action follows rising complaints regarding the unavailability of medicines, acting on the special directives of the Health Minister.
These monitoring committees will function under the direct leadership of Additional or Deputy DMOs. The primary responsibility of the committees is to conduct inspections at the local level and assess the prevailing situation.
The duties of the committee include directly inspecting and verifying the stock of essential medicines in hospitals, accurately evaluating medicine shortages and delivery delays, and urgently identifying and resolving bottlenecks and issues in the distribution of medicines through the Kerala Medical Services Corporation.
