Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported the presence of cyclonic circulations over South Karnataka and adjacent regions, as well as over South Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Additionally, another cyclonic circulation persists over the Western Bay of Bengal at an altitude of 4.5 km. Under their influence, Kerala is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall from August 5 to 9, 2026.
The IMD has forecast isolated very heavy rainfall on August 6 and 7, and isolated heavy rainfall from August 5 to 8. Strong winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 km/h, gusting up to 60 km/h, along with squally weather conditions, are expected along the Kerala-Lakshadweep coasts from August 5 to 8.
Meanwhile, light rain is expected across all districts today. The weather department has issued Orange and Yellow alerts for various districts as part of its five-day rainfall forecast. Today, an Orange alert has been sounded for 5 districts and a Yellow alert for 7 districts.
