THRISSUR (KERALA): A 62-year-old man died on Saturday in a wild elephant attack near his home close to Athirappally in the district, a senior Forest Department official said.
The incident occurred around 2:45 AM when the victim, identified as Mohanan, and two of his relatives tried to chase away a wild elephant that had strayed near their residential area, the official added.
As the trio attempted to drive the jumbo away, the animal suddenly turned around and charged at them. This caused fatal injuries to Mohanan, who was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but his life could not be saved, according to the official.
