THRISSUR: The participation of the Vice Chancellors of Kerala Agricultural University and the University of Kerala in the Sree Krishna Jayanti Shobhayatra organized by Balagokulam in Thrissur has ignited a political controversy. Dr. Sajitha Rani, the Vice Chancellor of the Agricultural University, inaugurated the grand procession in Thrissur city. Her presence on the stage of an RSS-affiliated organization comes amid ongoing criticisms regarding her appointment as VC.
University of Kerala Vice Chancellor Dr. Mohanan Kunnummal also participated in the procession. Dr. Sajitha Rani was given the charge of Agricultural University VC following the transfer of B. Ashok. Reports indicate that the Governor had ignored a three-member panel submitted by the Agriculture Department while appointing her. Given her background as a leader of the Sangh Parivar-backed Adhyapaka Parishad, her active involvement in the Balagokulam event has drawn sharp reactions from various political quarters.
