ABU DHABI: Indian expatriates residing in the UAE will have to wait a bit longer for routine passport, visa, and attestation services to return to normalcy. The Indian Embassy announced on Monday that its diplomatic missions in the UAE will continue to render only emergency consular services until July 1, 2026. In an official statement shared via the mission’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of India in Dubai confirmed that both stations will strictly handle emergency cases covering passports, visas, miscellaneous services, and document attestations during this extended period.
This developmental update succeeds an earlier press release dated June 19, in which the diplomatic mission announced a temporary five-day suspension of regular services to facilitate a smoother operational transition. Alhind Tours and Travel LLC is scheduled to officially take over the delivery of all outsourced Indian passport, visa, and attestation services across the UAE starting from July 1, 2026. As part of this planned vendor transition, the outgoing service providers—BLS International for passport/visa processing and SGIVS Global for attestation routines—had already ceased accepting fresh applications after business hours concluded on June 25. Routine appointments were initially slated to stay suspended from June 26 to June 30, resulting in a five-day gap.
The Indian mission cited pressing administrative reasons for extending the ongoing suspension of regular consular services by one additional day. Authorities reiterated that citizens requiring urgent, non-delayable consular assistance during this interim timeframe can seamlessly contact the missions via the dedicated toll-free number 800 46342 (800 INDIA), through WhatsApp at +971 54 309 0571, or via email at pbsk.dubai@mea.gov.in. The embassy further stated that specific operational guidelines and updates regarding the resumption of standard operations from July 2 onwards will be communicated in due course, urging the expat community to closely monitor the official social media feeds of the embassy and consulate.
