KOLLAM: A Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Super Fast bus caught fire while running near Kuriyode in Chadayamangalam early Friday morning. Fortunately, a major disaster was averted as no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. The bus was bound for Thiruvananthapuram from Punalur when the fire broke out.
The incident took place at around 5:30 AM. There were nine passengers on board the vehicle at the time of the mishap. The alert driver noticed thick smoke emanating from the engine compartment and immediately pulled over, enabling all passengers to evacuate the vehicle safely before the flames spread.
According to preliminary inspection, a leakage in the diesel tank pipe is suspected to have triggered the fire. Upon receiving information, a fire tender from the Kadakkal Fire and Rescue Services rushed to the spot and successfully doused the flames.
