The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) announced that the attack on the Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) occurred at approximately 12:10 am on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. The strike caused significant damage to the vessel’s hull and triggered a fire onboard, raising immediate concerns regarding a potential oil spill in the surrounding waters.

The Dubai Media Office confirmed that emergency response and maritime firefighting teams were swiftly mobilised to contain the blaze. Fortunately, all 24 crew members aboard the fully laden tanker have been confirmed safe with no injuries reported.
