THRISSUR: Setting an inspiring example of integrity and honest service, the staff of the Guruvayur Devaswom Rest House returned a lost gold chain weighing two and a half sovereigns to its rightful owner. The staff members at the Guruvayur Satyagraha Smaraka Mandiram, located at the East Nada of the temple, proved to be an exemplar of dedicated public service.
The gold chain, which was believed to be lost forever, was returned to the family of Abin V.P., hailing from Paral Valiya Parambath in Thalassery. The family had arrived for temple darshan on July 6 and checked into a room at the Satyagraha Smaraka Mandiram inside the Kausthubham complex. They completed their pilgrimage and checked out early in the morning on July 7. While cleaning the vacant room, Devaswom employee Sajitha Venugopal spotted the gold chain hanging from the bathroom door lock.
She immediately reported the discovery to Kausthubham Assistant Manager Anithakumari and Deputy Administrator K. Geetha, who is in charge of the guest house. The authorities promptly verified the guest registration log and contacted Abin V.P. After he successfully identified the specific marks on the ornament, the officials confirmed his ownership.
The family, who had been in distress over losing the valuable gold chain worth lakhs, was overjoyed upon receiving the news. Returning to Guruvayur, the chain was handed back to the family in the presence of Devaswom officials. The family expressed their heartfelt gratitude, love, and thanks to the Devaswom management and staff before embarking on their return journey.
