MUMBAI/NASHIK: The Nashik police have formally requested assistance from the Intelligence Bureau (IB), the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) to probe potential links to international extremist funding in the ongoing TCS harassment and conversion case. Authorities are examining whether the case involving coercive conversion and sexual exploitation has broader security implications.
Superintendent of Police Sandeep Karnik confirmed that official correspondence has been made with these central and state agencies to verify any overseas funding or terror angles. While various angles are being scrutinized, officials noted that no concrete evidence of international funding has been established so far. To date, nine FIRs have been registered—eight concerning sexual exploitation under the pretext of marriage and one regarding coercive conversion and harassment.
The investigation gained momentum through a covert operation where women police personnel encouraged victims to come forward by providing emotional support and counseling. Preliminary findings suggest that the BPO’s HR manager, Nida Khan, allegedly orchestrated a hiring and conversion racket. It is further alleged that Ms. Khan ignored complaints from female employees against their colleagues and instead protected the accused, even attempting to facilitate closer proximity between Hindu female staff and the accused male employees.
Authorities are also investigating whether official company electronic devices were misused for these illicit activities. In response to the escalating probe, TCS has instructed its Nashik employees to work from home until further notice for their safety. Furthermore, the IT giant has temporarily suspended fresh hiring at the Nashik facility as the special investigation continues.
