PUTTHUR: Several passengers were injured in a road accident after two private buses colliding at high speed at Vendar Kallummoodu near Puttur. The accident occurred when the ‘Nirmala’ private bus, heading towards Kayamkulam, crashed into the ‘Society’ bus traveling towards Kottarakkara.
Following the collision, 27 injured passengers were admitted to the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital, while others were rushed to nearby private hospitals.
Three passengers—Omana, Sreedevi, and Suresh—who sustained severe injuries were later shifted from the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital to the Medical College and other advanced private medical facilities. Society bus driver Ajayakumar suffered injuries to his hand. According to the police, overspeeding by the buses caused the accident. The Puttur police have registered a case regarding the incident.
