NEYYATTINKARA: A formal complaint has been raised following revelations that sacred jewelry (Thiruvaabharanam) belonging to various Devaswom temples under the Neyyattinkara Devaswom Assistant Commissioner has gone missing. Valuable gold ornaments, silver jewelry, and gold bars, which were kept in safe custody, have vanished. These sacred ornaments from multiple Devaswom temples were stored in a secure locker located at the Parassala Mahadeva Temple, from where they reportedly went missing. The shocking discovery came to light during a routine inspection conducted by the Thiruvaabharanam Commission. A copy of the detailed report submitted by the Thiruvaabharanam Commissioner to the Neyyattinkara Devaswom Assistant Commissioner was received on the 24th.
The sacred jewelry of all the temples functioning under the jurisdiction of the Neyyattinkara Devaswom Assistant Commissioner is traditionally stored at the Parassala Mahadeva Temple for security. An audit and stock-taking of these ornaments are mandatory and are carried out every year. The official inspection report was handed over to the higher authorities on May 23. Precious and antique valuables belonging to more than 20 prominent temples, including Aravalloor, Neyyattinkara, Kaleswaram, Chezhungannoor, Parassala, and Muryankara, are among the missing items.
