Sexual Harassment Against Accident Victim in Kayamkulam; Trade Union Leader Accused During Rescue Operation.

KAYAMKULAM: A 25-year-old woman, who met with a road accident in Kayamkulam, has filed a complaint alleging sexual harassment during the rescue attempt. According to the victim, Sinil Sabad, a local trade union leader and businessman who arrived at the scene to help, molested her while she was being transported to the hospital. The police’s decision to let the accused go after merely serving a notice has sparked a major controversy.

The incident occurred around 12:30 AM on the 4th of this month near the KPAC Junction in Kayamkulam. The woman’s vehicle was involved in an accident, and Sinil Sabad was among the group that reached the spot for rescue operations. The victim alleged that while shifting her to the hospital, Sabad touched her inappropriately with sexual intent. There are also allegations that although the victim informed the police on the day of the incident, no immediate action was taken.

Sinil Sabad is a prominent leader of the Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi in Kayamkulam. Reports suggest that he has since gone into hiding following the registration of the case and the subsequent public outcry. Allegations have also surfaced regarding high-level interventions to settle the case, given the suspect’s influential background. The police have now intensified their search to apprehend the absconding leader.
