Thiruvananthapuram: A police officer has been suspended for sexually harassing a young woman aboard a bus. Prajeesh S. Nair, who served as the gunman for former minister V. Sivankutty, was suspended following the incident.
After the video went viral, attempts were allegedly made to settle the matter, but high-level political interventions failed to yield results. Despite the circulation of the video showing the officer sexually harassing the woman on the bus, action was delayed. The suspension order was finally issued on August 11. The victim herself had recorded and released the video of his inappropriate behavior. A close associate of Sivankutty, the accused officer was currently attached to the Thiruvananthapuram AR Camp.
The footage recorded on the victim’s mobile phone had circulated widely on social media platforms. The video clearly depicted the accused, seated on the rear seat, reaching through the gap between the seats to sexually harass the woman.
