BISHNUPUR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday issued a stern “final warning” to Trinamool Congress (TMC) associates involved in corruption and violence, ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. Addressing a massive BJP rally in Bishnupur, the Prime Minister described his message as a “last chance” for goons and syndicates to surrender before the law takes its course.
“I am giving one last chance to all TMC goons, syndicates, and corrupt elements. Surrender at your nearest police station before April 29. No one will be spared after May 4. The mafia of Bishnupur and TMC’s syndicate, listen carefully, this will no longer be tolerated,” Modi declared. During the rally, he also unveiled major welfare promises aimed at women, including free rations and a yearly grant of ₹36,000 through the proposed ‘Maatri Shakti Bharosa Card’ if the BJP forms the government.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the safety and prosperity of women are the BJP’s top priorities. He alleged that due to the TMC’s systemic corruption, women in Bengal are deprived of benefits that their counterparts in neighboring BJP-ruled states like Assam, Odisha, and Bihar already enjoy. He further promised financial assistance of up to ₹1.5 lakh under the PM Awas Yojana for building permanent homes for the poor, highlighting that under a BJP regime, no one would be able to “steal” rations intended for the needy.
With the West Bengal Assembly elections scheduled for two phases on April 23 and April 29, and counting on May 4, both major parties are focusing heavily on the female electorate. While Mamata Banerjee seeks a fourth consecutive term with her existing ‘Lakshmi Bhandar’ scheme, the BJP is making a determined push to unseat the ruling government by promising significantly higher direct cash transfers and a crackdown on political violence.
