NEW DELHI: The Kerala state government has decided to replace Senior Advocate P.V. Dinesh, who was representing it in the Supreme Court in the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case. The government is moving to replace him with either former Solicitor General Ranjit Kumar or prominent criminal lawyer Siddharth Luthra.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has adjourned the bail applications of seven convicts serving jail sentences in the case, including Kodi Suni, for three weeks. A bench headed by Justice Satish Chandra Sharma postponed the hearing on the petition.
Advocates representing the convicts urged the court to consider their bail applications urgently, highlighting that they have been imprisoned for over 13 years and should be granted bail. However, K.K. Rema MLA requested more time from the court to file a counter-affidavit regarding the bail petitions. Consequently, the court decided to defer the hearing and directed K.K. Rema to submit her response within two weeks.
