PARBHANI (MAHARASHTRA): In a catastrophic structural failure, at least four devotees lost their lives and over thirty others are feared trapped after the under-construction roof of a popular Hanuman temple collapsed in the Parbhani district of Maharashtra. The tragic incident triggered massive panic as dozens of worshippers were crushed under the concrete rubble. The accident took place at the iconic Hanuman temple located in Yashwadi village. Upon receiving the emergency alert, top officials from the district administration, the local police force, and the state health department rushed to the site with emergency rescue units to initiate immediate relief operations.
According to local authorities, the structural collapse specifically involved the heavy concrete slab of the ‘Sabha Mandap’ (assembly hall), which was being actively constructed right in front of the main sanctum sanctorum of the temple. Devotees who were pulled out from the debris with critical injuries were instantly rushed via fleet ambulances to the Parbhani District Civil Hospital for advanced medical monitoring and treatment. The remote village of Yashwadi, where the ill-fated shrine is located, is situated around 190 kilometers away from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
“The massive concrete slab of the temple’s under-construction ‘Sabha-Mandap’ suddenly came crashing down at around 3:30 PM on Saturday. The local police and the district administration have instantly dispatched specialized disaster management teams to the spot, and a full-scale rescue operation is actively underway to pull out anyone remaining trapped beneath the heavy rubble,” a senior police official confirmed to the premier news agency PTI.
