THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP State President Rajeev Chandrasekhar stated that his party will tooth and nail oppose any attempts to restrict women’s constitutional rights and push them back into homes. He emphasized that the party will not allow anyone to infringe upon the fundamental freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution of India.
Criticizing the Congress-IUML government and its ideologues, Chandrasekhar alleged that Muslim League ministers and religious figures are attempting to limit women’s public participation under the guise of religious norms. He noted that recent statements advising women to stay indoors and refrain from public stages show a blatant disregard for the law of the land and the Constitution.
He questioned the “deafening silence” of senior Congress leaders on the issue. While Rahul Gandhi speaks against patriarchy in Delhi and Priyanka Gandhi chants ‘Ladki Hoon, Lad Sakti Hoon’ in North India, both remain deliberately silent when their alliance partner IUML and its ideologues curtail women’s freedom in Kerala. Calling this the ultimate hypocrisy of the Congress party, Chandrasekhar assured that the BJP will fight legally and politically to protect the liberation and equality achieved by women over decades. He also slammed former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, demanding that he take responsibility for ruining the state’s economy and youth’s future during his ten-year tenure.
