KATHMANDU: Following the flash floods, the death toll from the Nepal flooding has crossed 270. This was informed by the Ministry of External Affairs of India during a press conference. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that they are unable to contact certain Indian citizens. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal informed during the press conference that efforts are ongoing to evacuate around 200 Indian citizens stranded in Tibet following the floods.
Some people might be missing there. We are trying our maximum to locate them through local authorities. Jaiswal also informed that 21 Indians who went to Nepal for the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra have been rescued. The Nepal Army clarified that more than 350 people have been rescued today so far from the flood-affected areas. A military spokesperson stated that 50 of the rescued individuals are foreign nationals, which includes 30 Indians, 8 Chinese, 8 Koreans, 2 Americans, and 2 Italians.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority of Nepal stated that 910 people have gone missing following the floods and it has been impossible to establish contact with them. Among the missing, 517 are foreign nationals. Additionally, 44 members of the Nepal Army and 28 Nepal Police personnel are also missing. So far, 258 bodies have been recovered, and 351 people have been rescued.
