The tragic accident occurred around 6:00 PM on Friday. The family from Perumbavoor had come to Thodupuzha to spend their vacation. After visiting the local Summer Fest, they had gone to the Uravappara hilltop. While they were at the summit, the weather suddenly turned violent with heavy rain, strong winds, and intense lightning.
As they were rushing down to safety, Misriya and her father were struck by a powerful bolt of lightning and collapsed. Gokul, who was nearby and rushed to assist them, was also struck by the secondary discharge. Although all three were immediately rushed to a private hospital in Thodupuzha, Misriya succumbed to her injuries.
