A Palau-flagged oil tanker named SKYLIGHT was targeted five nautical miles north of Khasab Port in Oman’s Musandam Governorate on Sunday. The vessel’s entire crew of 20 members—comprising 15 Indian nationals and 5 Iranians—was successfully evacuated by the Royal Navy of Oman and security forces. Initial reports indicate that four crew members sustained varying degrees of injuries and are receiving medical treatment. This marks a significant expansion of the regional conflict into Omani waters following joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran.
Earlier on Sunday, Oman’s Duqm Port was also hit by two drones, where one strike on a worker accommodation unit injured an expatriate employee. While a second drone landed near fuel storage tanks, no further casualties or material damages were reported there. The escalation has led to widespread travel disruptions, with Air India canceling multiple international flights and Muscat International Airport temporarily suspending operations as retaliatory strikes continue across the Gulf.
