KOLLAM: A six-member gang armed with lethal weapons, including machetes and swords, launched a brutal attack on a house at Parakkadavu in Sooranad North. The incident occurred around 11:00 PM on Thursday at the residence of Ajith (43). The attackers unleashed a wave of terror, destroying household appliances such as the TV, refrigerator, and furniture, as well as a Royal Enfield Bullet and other vehicles. Properties worth lakhs of rupees were reportedly damaged during the rampage.
The gang barged into the house while the family members were having dinner together. According to the victims, the attack was unprovoked, and they only managed to save their lives by fleeing the spot. Ajith, his 68-year-old mother Gowrikutty, and his children, Abhijith (14) and Akhila (17), were physically assaulted. The police complaint also mentions that the attackers misbehaved with the children. The family has alleged that a native of Pathirikkal led the attack.
Preliminary reports suggest the incident is linked to a dispute that occurred during the Aanayadi temple festival months ago. The Sooranad Police have inspected the site and initiated an investigation. (KN)
