THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: “Dharmadam P.S. Answering… Good morning sir… Over… Seventeen cases have been registered at the station… Checked the women’s cases in the district and nothing matches with this. When the case file was about to be closed, sir started showing some visible changes…” Carrying these highly intense and intriguing dialogues, the official teaser of the upcoming movie ‘Uyir’, directed by acclaimed filmmaker M. Padmakumar, has been released. The short video clip perfectly captures all the complex procedures and stark realities of a realistic police investigation. Investigative thrillers have always held a special fascination for Malayalam audiences, and this teaser has instantly gone viral on social media platforms within a short period.
The makers dropped the high-octane teaser as part of the promotions for the movie’s grand theatrical release scheduled for June 26. The beautifully tailored dialogues and gritty visual sequences explicitly hint at a dark, premeditated murder. The entire plot of the film moves forward through a high-profile murder investigation handled by the Dharmadam Police Station in the Malabar region. Notably, the movie is dynamically adapted from a shocking real-life event that occurred in Malabar. There is no doubt that the film will offer an immersive cinematic experience to thriller enthusiasts, maintaining absolute suspense, dense mystery, and an ominous tone throughout the screening. The screenplay and dialogues have been co-penned by Shaji Marad and Nikhil K. Menon, developed from an original core story by Inspector Anshad.
Versatile young actor Roshan Mathew leads the investigative team in the central role, while Shruthy Menon plays the female protagonist. The thriller features an extensive pan-Indian supporting cast including Baiju Santhosh, Atulya Chandra, Vineeth Thattil, and Shaju Sreedhar, alongside prominent South Indian actors Harish and Vinod Sagar. Adding national appeal to the project, Bollywood actors Saiyami Kher and Mahesh Shetty portray highly crucial characters, alongside child artists Master Aryan S. Poojari and Baby Mithra Sanjay. The musical tracks feature lyrics written by Shibu Chakravarthy and Santhosh Varma, set to background scores and tunes composed by Manikandan Ayyappa. On the technical front, Ajay David Kachappilly serves as the cinematographer, Renjan Abraham handles the editing department, and Saburam directs the art production. Other crew members include P.V. Shankar (Makeup), Aisha Safir Seth (Costume Design), Sreejith Chettippadi (Stills), Collins Leophil (Design), and K.J. Vinayan (Chief Associate Director). Produced by Santhosh Trivikraman under the banner of Wow Cinemas, the film’s production schedules were completed across Coorg, Kannur, Thalassery, Mumbai, Palakkad, and Ernakulam. The movie will be distributed in theaters by Century Films.
