KOCHI: The official theatrical release date for director Shaji Kailas’s highly anticipated mass action entertainer, Varavu, has been locked for July 16. Produced by Nicey Reji under the banner of Olga Productions, the mega-project will be brought to audiences worldwide by powerhouse distributor Gokulam Movies. Positioned as a gritty, realistic revenge thriller in recent Malayalam cinema, the film boasts eight aggressively designed action sequences, high-voltage dramatic segments, and punchy commercial dialogues.
The film is scripted by one of Malayalam cinema’s finest commercial screenwriters, A.K. Sajan. Versatile actor Joju George anchors the film by playing the primary protagonist, a powerful character named Kattungal Pauly (Paulachan), which is expected to cement his position as a mainstream mass action hero. Another pivotal character in the narrative framework is ‘Medayil Coach’, brought to life by acclaimed actor-writer Murali Gopy. The extensive filming schedule of the project was successfully wrapped up across picturesque yet rugged terrains including Munnar, Kanthalloor, Theni, Vagamon, Mundakayam, and Kollam.
Varavu features a massive supporting cast consisting of prominent actors such as Arjun Ashokan, Baburaj, Baiju Santhosh, Deepak Parambol, Saniya Iyappan, Sreejith Ravi, Abhimanyu, Shammi Thilakan, Kottayam Ramesh, Azees Nedumangad, Bobby Kurian, Ashwin Kumar, Balaji Sharma, Chali Pala, and Radhika Radhakrishnan. Adding further star power to the project is the return of veteran actresses Sukanya and Vani Viswanath, alongside young talent Vincy Aloshious. The executive producers are Jomi Joseph and Rahul Reji. On the technical front, the cinematography is captured by S. Saravanan, while editing duties are managed by Shameer Muhammed. Other key production credits include Sabu Ram (Art Direction), Saji Kattakada (Makeup), Sameera Saneesh (Costume Design), Hari Thirumala (Stills), and Syamanthak Pradeep (Chief Associate Director). The production logistics were managed by Sivan Poojappura, Anil Anshad, and Pratapan Kalliyoor, with Vinod Mangalath serving as the production controller.
