ALAPPUZHA: Police have confirmed that the death of an elderly man found inside his house in Karuvatta, Haripad, was a murder. Authorities have taken four teenagers into custody, including three students hailing from Paravur, Kollam, and a 13-year-old female relative of the victim, Sivankutty.
Preliminary police investigations revealed that the gang of teenagers committed the murder during a robbery attempt. The crime was allegedly planned to raise funds to purchase an iPhone for the 13-year-old relative and a motorcycle for her friends from Paravur.
Investigators also discovered that the teenager gang broadcasted gruesome WhatsApp video call visuals of the murder to the 13-year-old relative while committing the crime. Police stated that the detained minors are currently being interrogated, and further action will be taken after verifying if more individuals were involved in the case.
