New Delhi: Tensions escalated at Jantar Mantar during a protest organized by the CJP demanding the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on a hunger strike for the past 21 days, was forcibly shifted to the hospital by authorities. The action was taken despite strong resistance and opposition from CJP activists gathered at the venue. Following the commotion, Abhijit Deepak alleged that a group of goons had attempted to attack Sonam Wangchuk at the protest site.
A team of government-appointed medical experts had arrived at Jantar Mantar to evaluate his health. The medical team comprised specialists from RML and Safdarjung hospitals. Although CJP activists maintained that they would not allow the check-up and insisted it could only happen in the presence of doctors appointed by them, the Delhi Police intervened and forcibly removed Sonam Wangchuk. The Delhi Police had arrived at the protest site fully prepared to handle any law and order situation.
