Wayanad: Two youths have been arrested in Mananthavady, Wayanad, for allegedly abducting a minor girl in an autorickshaw and subjecting her to sexual assault. The incident took place on Thursday morning when the girl, who was walking back home, was forcibly pulled into the autorickshaw and assaulted. The arrested individuals have been identified as N. Afsal (32) and Srijin P. James (24), both residents of Perya.
The Mananthavady police have registered a case against the accused, invoking relevant sections of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. According to the police, the accused youths have prior criminal records and were previously arrested in connection with various narcotics cases. The police are initiating further strict legal action against them.
