Kayamkulam: In a major relief to local residents, the Health Department has issued an official order appointing a permanent Forensic Surgeon at the Kayamkulam Taluk Hospital. The appointment follows the direct intervention of Minister M. Liju in resolving the long-pending demand of the region. Dr. Lakshmi Krishnan has been posted as the new Forensic Surgeon at the hospital.
With this new appointment, all post-mortem procedures, including complex cases requiring a police surgeon, can now be conducted locally at Kayamkulam itself. Previously, bodies had to be taken to Vandanam for forensic examinations, causing significant delays and hardship for grieving families. The availability of forensic services locally is expected to streamline police investigations and provide timely service to the public.
