History Made with Artemis 2: NASA’s Crewed Lunar Mission a Success as Capsule Splashes Down in Pacific.

WASHINGTON: NASA’s ambitious Artemis 2 mission, which sent humans to orbit the Moon for the first time in over half a century, has concluded successfully. After a 10-day journey, the Orion spacecraft carrying four astronauts made a safe splashdown in the Pacific Ocean. The capsule landed off the coast of California at approximately 5:37 AM IST today.

The mission marks a pivotal moment in space exploration, testing the critical systems required for deep space travel. Although the crew briefly experienced a communication blackout during the high-stakes re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere, the landing was executed with extreme precision as per the pre-determined flight plan.

The crew, consisting of NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen, are reported to be in excellent health. This successful homecoming paves the way for the Artemis 3 mission, which aims to land humans back on the lunar surface. NASA officials have hailed the mission as a “triumph of human ingenuity” and a giant leap toward future Mars exploration.
