Dubai: The Indian women’s cricket team declined to accept the Asia Cup trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, boycotting the post-match presentation ceremony at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
A similar incident occurred during the 2025 Asia Cup final as well, after which Naqvi reportedly returned to the ACC headquarters in Dubai with the trophy, where it remains kept.
Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, Team India secured the Asia Cup title by comfortably defeating Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final match. Following their victory, the players engaged in on-field celebrations and broadcast interviews. However, while presentation ceremonies typically begin within 15 to 20 minutes post-match, the event was delayed by over an hour due to the standoff over the trophy presentation.
