KOCHI: The title of director Jis Joy’s upcoming film ‘Kottayam Belt’, starring Asif Ali in the lead role, has been officially unveiled. Kerala Sports Minister O. J. Janeesh launched the title poster during a grand ceremony held on Tuesday, July 14, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Kochi.
The event witnessed the presence of various prominent personalities from the film, social, and cultural sectors, alongside the film’s crew and well-wishers. The movie is being produced by T. R. Shamsuddeen and Venugopalakrishnan under the banners of Dream Catcher Productions and Kailas Productions.
Set against the Christian backdrop of a high-range village in the east, ‘Kottayam Belt’ is presented as a complete family thriller. The story revolves around the turbulent life events of four powerful brothers who cannot be easily resisted by anyone in terms of influence, wealth, or mental strength. The audience will get to see highly realistic portrayals of characters that they have seen and heard of in real life.
Apart from Asif Ali, the film stars an ensemble cast including Vijayaraghavan, Shine Tom Chacko, Jagadish, Shruti Ramachandran, Ashokan, Bobby Kurian, Alancier, Vishnu Agasthya, Farhaan Faasil, Sreekanth Murali, Prem Prakash, Vineeth, Jinu Joseph, Chempil Ashokan, Ranjith Shekhar, Sandra Chandran, Eyka Dev, and Nithin Prasanna in prominent roles.
The screenplay is written by Suresh Gopalan, with the popular screenwriter duo Bobby-Sanjay serving as creative contributors. Govind Vasantha is composing the music for the film.
The technical crew includes Binendra Menon for cinematography, Sooraj E. S. for editing, and Ajayan Mangad for art direction. Sameera Saneesh is the costume designer, Bijith Dharmadam is on stills, Sagar serves as the chief associate director, and Javed is the production controller. The filming of this project, which is scheduled to begin on July 15, will be completed across Thodupuzha, Kochi, Kottayam, and Thrissur.
