EDATHUA: A 30-year-old youth who was returning home from Doha upon learning about the death of his pregnant wife was found dead by suicide inside a lodge in Bengaluru. The deceased has been identified as P.S. Sanukkuttan, a native of Koduppunna, Edathua. His wife, Hareeshma (27), from Umbernad, Mavelikara, was found dead by suicide at her residence two days ago.
The funeral of Hareeshma, who was three months pregnant, was conducted in Mavelikara. The couple had been married just four months ago, and Sanukkuttan had traveled abroad for work only a month ago.
Upon learning of his wife’s tragic demise, Sanukkuttan boarded a flight from Doha and had informed his family that he would reach Nedumbassery Airport via a connecting flight in Bengaluru. Accordingly, his brother and a relative waited at Nedumbassery, but Sanukkuttan failed to arrive. When they subsequently contacted the Bengaluru airport authorities, they were informed that he had alighted there.
Unable to reach him telephonically, the relatives traveled to Bengaluru and contacted local police and the Malayali Association for help. Meanwhile, the police reported finding a deceased Keralite inside a local lodge. The relatives later visited the spot and confirmed the body to be that of Sanukkuttan.
