100-Year-Old Temple Collapses into River Ganga in Bihar’s Bhagalpur.

BHAGALPUR: A century-old temple collapsed into the raging waters of the Ganga river in Bihar’s Bhagalpur district following heavy soil erosion and rising water levels. The Chaiti Mata Durga Temple, located in Shankarpur village, completely submerged into the river due to the powerful currents.

The region has been witnessing a steady rise in the water level of the Ganga over the past few days, leading to severe bank erosion. The heavy flow washed away the soil beneath the temple’s foundation, causing the structure to tilt and plunge into the river within seconds as helpless locals watched on.

The destruction of the historic shrine, which held immense religious significance for the villagers, has caused widespread grief among the local community. Video footage of the structural collapse has been widely shared on social media. Locals have urged the administration to take immediate measures to prevent further riverbank erosion in the area.
