THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister K. Muraleedharan expressed strong dissatisfaction over the Kerala Government Medical Officers’ Association (KGMOA) opposing the government’s decision to introduce 24-hour specialty services in district and general hospitals. Firmly asserting that the government will not back down from its declared goals, the minister added that any grievances should be communicated directly to him.
The minister pointed out that the Kerala Government Medical Officers’ Association has not formally raised any objections so far. If they wish to meet the minister, they can approach him directly. Actions can only be taken if vacancies and other practical difficulties are brought to his notice. Issuing daily press statements is not the way to handle these matters, K. Muraleedharan criticized.
Reiterating the government’s resolve, the minister stated that they would proceed with decisions aimed at providing better healthcare services to the public. He also informed that around 140 new doctors have already been appointed to address the shortage of medical staff.
