Kerala- Kottarakkara Braces for Intense Triangular Contest as Political Shifts Spice Up the Race.

KOLLAM: The Kottarakkara constituency is witnessing a high-stakes triangular battle this time, marked by shifting political loyalties and strategic candidate placements. Former MLA P Aisha Potty, who famously ended the ‘Pillai era’ in 2006 as an LDF candidate, is now spearheading the UDF challenge. Her move to the opposition front in January has shifted the political spotlight firmly onto the seat. She is up against sitting MLA and Transport Minister K N Balagopal, who is seeking a second term as the CPM candidate.

Adding more intrigue to the contest, the NDA has fielded R Resmi, who had finished as the runner-up while contesting on a Congress ticket in the 2021 elections. While Aisha Potty relies on her long-standing personal connect with the voters after serving three consecutive terms, the LDF is banking heavily on its development report card. Their campaign prominently features major projects like the Kottarakkara IT Park, the Zoho campus, the Government Nursing College, and the ongoing bypass work to woo the electorate. (TNIE)
