Tamil Nadu Polls: Case Filed Against TVK Chief Vijay for Alleged Model Code Violation.

CHENNAI: The Chennai Police have registered a case against Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay for an alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct during a roadshow in the Perambur constituency. Based on a complaint lodged by Monitoring Officer Kumar, the Peravallur police initiated action under five sections, including causing public nuisance and unlawful assembly.

According to the complaint, Vijay and his supporters allegedly used 30 loudspeakers, blocked the path of an ambulance, and gathered over 5,000 people, causing significant public inconvenience. The case has also been filed against around 5,000 TVK party workers. Meanwhile, the TVK leadership has hit back, accusing the Chennai Police of failing to provide adequate protection and traffic regulation despite formal permissions. The party has urged the Election Commission to intervene and ensure a safe environment for election campaigning. (ANI)
