KOCHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has served a notice to Veena T., daughter of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, in connection with the controversial CMRL-Exalogic transaction case. The central agency has issued the summons directing her to appear for questioning at its Kochi office this coming Friday. According to available information, the ED has issued summons to a total of nine individuals, including Veena and top officials of CMRL.
The ED’s swift action comes in the wake of a major setback faced by CMRL in the High Court, where its petition seeking to block the ED probe was dismissed, and the court directed the company to hand over all crucial documents to the agency. The ED is expected to interrogate Veena based on the vital documents and digital evidence seized during previous raids conducted at her residence and corporate offices. Sources reveal that the agency has already gathered substantial banking records, digital footprints, and transaction details related to the case.
Earlier, when the ED team arrived to conduct raids at locations including Pinarayi Vijayan’s residence, intense protests erupted from CPIM party workers, who allegedly attempted to vandalize the vehicles of the agency officials. Considering the high political sensitivity and past unrest, the ED is now executing its moves in this high-profile case with a blend of rapid pacing and extreme caution.
