THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Veteran filmmaker and lyricist Sreekumaran Thampi has strongly criticized the unruly behavior of certain online media outlets and YouTubers during the funeral of the late actor Salim Kumar. During the funeral rituals, Salim Kumar’s son, Chandhu Salim Kumar, had reacted against people who intruded into their private space with mobile cameras. Declaring his absolute solidarity with Chandhu, Thampi shared an emotional and hard-hitting note on his Facebook page.
Labeling those who try to monetize human grief through live videos as ‘sadists,’ Sreekumaran Thampi stated that he knows such elements will flock to his house with mobile phones when he passes away. He explained that since he would not be able to get up and react from his coffin then, he is choosing to speak out today. “Go away you scoundrels, find some decent job to earn a living,” Thampi stated as a pre-emptive warning to them. He also requested his true friends and well-wishers to ensure that such fake media personalities are not allowed anywhere near his body with mobile phones in the future.
